DUSHANBE, TODAY, October 24, 2018, two international significant dates are celebrated in the capital of Tajikistan – the “Orange Day” and the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

 

Considering the importance of these significant dates which acoincided this year, a whole month of events and activities were announced in Tajikistan from November 9 to December 10, 2018 as part of the celebration of the next “Orange Day” and the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

One of the first and wide-format events is the celebration of “Orange Day” by theme “Girls Choice” on November 24, 2018 on the 3rd floor of the Trading center “Dushanbe Mall” with a rich cultural and entertainment program from 14.00 – 17.00

 

The event will begin with the welcoming words of Ms. Olimi Markhabo Latifzoda, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and

Dr. Pratibha Mehta, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Tajikistan, and

Mr. David Ballard, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy to Tajikistan.

 

After the official opening ceremony guests and all participants will have an interactive and informative program by quizzes on the subjects of the celebrated days, quests, performances of champions and young athletes – girls from gymnastic and power sports, music, dance and game parts.

 

In parallel with the main program guests and visitors can visit the exhibition of international and local organizations. Fascinating activities will be available to all comers – artistic corners for drawing, as well as a corner of turning into interesting characters through face-art. Also, guests will be invited to visit the corner of the photo with hashtags and photo frames, created in honor of the celebrated days to capture themselves for a memory.

 

Gender equality activists celebrate “Orange Day” annually on November 25 around the world since 1981. On December 17, 1999, the UN General Assembly declared November 25 as the official International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (Resolution 54/134).

 

The global campaign “Orange the World” begins every year from November 25 and continues for the next 16 days active campaigns to combat gender-based violence until December 10 – Human Rights Day. It was on December 10, 1948 when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted and this year it marks 70 years.

 

The event was organized by the active interaction of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund as well as with a number of UN agencies – the Resident Coordinator Office, UN Women, Food and Agriculture Organization and Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees.

 

Significant contribution to the organization and holding of the event was provided by public and commercial organizations as NGO “Khamsol ba Khamsol” (Y-Peer), LLC “Dushanbe Mall”, UNESCO Clubs, NGO “Peshraft”, NGO “Good Neighbors Tajikistan”, NGO “National Federation Taekwon-do and kickboxing”, Federation of Gymnastic Sports, “Redline”LLC (security agency), ДДС “Aladdin”, LLC “Chicken” and Art Studio “YumeNoKi”.
