Within the joint EU-UN Spotlight Initiative Programme in Tajikistan, UNFPA and its implementing partner - Public Organization Gender and Development organized a roundtable discussion on strengthening the financial sustainability of civil society organization (CSO) in Tajikistan on 13 November 2023 in Dushanbe.

The event focused on the CSO’s implementation of socially significant projects through fostering partnerships with government agencies, the private sector, and development partners. The event brought together the representatives of Tajikistan’s relevant ministries and departments, CSOs, the private sector, and the development partners.

During the event, the participants discussed the financing opportunities for CSOs and barriers to accessing funds, new approaches to fostering partnerships with government agencies, private sector and development partners, and the implementation of social signification projects and charity work in Tajikistan. The platforms also allowed the participants to learn about Kazakhstan’s experience in developing a social entrepreneurship agenda.

“Civil society organizations are well recognized as a key driving force in the country to support the development process, creating demand for legislative and institutional measures to address various issues, particularly violence against women and girls,” said Ms Marziya Baydulloeva, Spotlight Initiative Programme Coordinator in Tajikistan.
