UNFPA Tajikistan in partnership with Tajikistan’s Agency on Statistics organised Development Coordination Council's Statistics Working Group (DCC) Meeting in Tajikistan on 21 February in Dushanbe. DCC is dedicated to reforming and enhancing the national and demographic statistics system. This meeting, a collaborative effort between the World Bank, UNFPA Tajikistan, and the Agency on Statistics alongside development partners, was a critical milestone for statistical sector improvements. The group, chaired by the World Bank and co-chaired by UNFPA, targets boosting aid efficiency for implementing reforms within Tajikistan's National Statistical System, aiming for advanced monitoring and evaluation systems aligned with the National Strategy for Statistics until 2030.
In her welcoming remarks, UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan and Country Director for Tajikistan Dr Nigina Abaszada reiterated UNFPA's role in strengthening demographic resilience and improving the accuracy and availability of population data, which are crucial for informed policy-making and development planning.
