The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) handed over to the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan 885000 masks of various types and 87000 sanitizers. It should be noted that The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has also made a significant contribution with provision of 46000 masks and 8000 antiseptics.
Despite the complexity of the epidemiological situation caused by the spread of coronavirus infection in Tajikistan, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decided not to postpone the Сensus-2020, which is an important political event of the decade. In this regard, UNFPA, in partnership with UNHCR, decided to provide assistance to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to conduct this historical event.
These sets of sanitizers and masks are allocated to support the mandatory measures to protect the health of enumerators, inspectors and citizens of the country during the upcoming Census, which will be held from 1 to 15 October 2020.
The ceremony of handing was attended by the Head of the UNFPA Country Office in Tajikistan Nargis Rakhimova, Ms. Roza Minasyan, Protection Officer, Officer-in-Charge, UNHCR Tajikistan, the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Gulnora Kenja Hasanzoda, Davlatzoda Qiyomiddin, Deputy Director Agency on statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, officers of the abovementioned organizations, and representatives of Mass Media.
