The UNFPA Resident Representative for Uzbekistan and Country Director for Tajikistan Dr Nigina Abaszadeh had an introductory meeting with Tajikistan’s Minister of Health and Social Protection of Population Dr Jamoliddin Abdullozoda on 20 February in Dushanbe.
The sides discussed various areas of cooperation in the frame of the UNFPA Tajikistan's Country Programme for 2023-2026, including strengthening of legal frameworks, improvement of maternal and child health, family planning, cervical cancer prevention and the implementation of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV programme. Dr Abaszadeh expressed gratitude to Dr Abdullozoda and his Ministry for their fruitful cooperation and commitment to achieving universal access to reproductive health and rights, one of SDG's cornerstones.
Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population and UNFPA are working collaboratively toward shared goals of strengthening health systems to deliver quality, integrated and gender-responsive sexual and reproductive health services to achieve universal health coverage for all in Tajikistan.
