In the beginning of August 2023, the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami had her introductory visit to Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan (GBAO). During her mission, Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami had a chance to familiarize herself with various UN agencies’ project sites, including UNFPA-supported initiatives in GBAO. It was noted that UNFPA empowers midwives and obstetrician-gynecologists through capacity building training courses and strengthening reproductive health sector in the region. The interventions also include reproductive health services provision to individuals with disability, which reaffirms UNFPA’s commitment to inclusivity in healthcare.

UNFPA helps to strengthen health systems, train and educate health workers and midwives, and improve access to a full range of reproductive health services.
