UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan and Country Director for Tajikistan Dr Nigina Abaszade met with the Director of Tajikistan’s Agency on Statistics Mr Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda on 20 February in Dushanbe. The sides exchanged insights on ongoing joint projects. They explored new avenues for cooperation in vital areas such as demographic statistics, population data analysis and various demographic and statistical research and studies. Dr Abaszade thanked Mr Nurmahmadzoda and his Agency for the longstanding partnership. She commended the commitment of the Agency in advancing shared objectives and collaborative efforts in achieving sustainable development goals and promoting the well-being of the population of Tajikistan.
UNFPA supports the Government of Tajikistan in strengthening demographic resilience and improving the accuracy and availability of population data, which are crucial for informed policymaking and development planning.
